My story

I am a Polish citizen with a significant disability rating. For 13 years, I lived in a psychiatric care institution.
I received no help when I decided to leave.

Today, I live independently. I work, study English at university, and volunteer at the same time.
I do not rely on social assistance and pay my taxes like everyone else. Social Welfare Centre instead of help filled three court cases against me. All three I won.
In many of my legal battles, I was supported by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights,
which stood by me, led several of my court cases, and ultimately helped me regain my freedom.
In addition to other legal proceedings, I am currently involved in two cases before the Supreme Administrative Court (NSA)fighting for justice in matters related to social welfare centre charges imposed while I was not even living in social institution.
This website is a testimony to my journey — from exclusion and control to freedom and dignity.
