How can you become chairman of a university science association just 8 months after facing an incapacitation trial?
“God Lit the Fire – My Story” – my autobiography
It’s the story of my life, a testimony of my fight for dignity and independence.
I spent 13 years in a psychiatric care institution. During that time and after leaving, I faced resistance, repression, and repeated attempts to take away my freedom.
The Social Welfare Centre in Chorzów, Poland, filed three court cases against me: for forced psychiatric detention, court-ordered placement in a care institution, and incapacitation. I won all of them.
With the support of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, which represented me in several cases, I was able to reclaim my voice and my freedom.
Today, I am involved in two cases before the Supreme Administrative Court (NSA), concerning unjust charges imposed while I was not living in the nursing home. This is a story of transformation – from exclusion to self-determination.
Now I work, study English at university, lead a science association, and volunteer. I do not rely on social assistance — yet I still must fight for my independence.
